Sail Date: May 2019

We had originally booked a shorter cruise of the inside passage when we found this longer cruise for less money because it was a repositioning cruise. I was able to show my wife beautiful parts of Japan before sailing on to Russia. Russia was very cold in May and many people had respiratory issues, but the churches were gorgeous. Alaska was much better and warmer and very scenic.Everywhere we looked there was scenery to die for and usually wildlife flying, swimming or roaming around in front of us. We spent time in several ports and cruised the inside passage on our way to our final destination. Vancouver is a beautiful city that I want to spend more time in but we were just there long enough to go to the airport and fly home. I see a future trip to Vancouver and possibly a trans-Canadian rail journey to Toronto, Montreal and Quebec.

On Viking Ocean cruises all cabins feature verandas. The cabins are well appointed for their size and the cabin stewards are very attentive. All dining venues are included in the price of the cruise so just pick and choose. The food was very good in every venue, but do try the Chef's Table for a treat. Embarkation and debarkation were both very easy on Viking. There were port talks the day preceding each port visit and shore excursions included in the price as well as optional excursions. The fitness and recreation options are excellent with the snow grotto as a stand out feature. Onboard the public rooms are very attractive and conducive to meeting people and having conversations. The service is really a stand out feature of Viking Cruises and simply adds to the great value for the money that you spend. I highly recommend Viking for the Thinking person as a quiet alternative to loud and boisterous ships with children on board.

Cabin Review

Standard Viking cabin with an excellent cabin steward. The staff on Viking is the best, anything I wanted was provided very quickly. The staff is always pleasant and asking if there is anything we want or need.
