We chose this particular cruise for a couple of reasons. First, we wanted to see as much of England, Scotland, and Wales as we could without spending two weeks driving on the “wrong side” of the road. This cruise gave us this opportunity and the chance to see Dublin as a bonus.

Next, we are big fans of Viking Cruises. We have been on a Viking river cruise and ocean cruise. The ships are smaller and beautiful, with spacious cabins with nice balconies. The service is outstanding. Viking chooses interesting ports that give you the opportunity to see how people really live in each country. One shore excursion in every port is included in the price.

The Viking luxury experience started for us before we even boarded the ship. We did not use the Viking airfare and transfer to the ship so we found our own way to the dock. When we got there, it was easy to follow the Viking signs and drop all our luggage with the porters. We went to a large tent to check in (no waiting) and spent the afternoon checking out the town of Greenwich before boarding.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was spacious and had a nice veranda. This particular cruise through the British Isles was in cool weather so we did not use the balcony as much as we had hoped to use it.

Port Reviews

Bergen

Bergen is a beautiful port. We stayed a few days after the cruise ended and enjoyed the city. We had quite a bit of rain, but that was fine. If you have four hours, there is a beautiful Fijord cruise that leaves right from the center of town.

Kirkwall

Kirkwall was a great port. We really enjoyed stop.
