We have travelled on larger ships with another line for over 23 cruises - Cunard. We wanted to try a different line that offered something a little different. We chose Viking Ocean, and we are glad we did. From booking to disembarkation the experiance was perfect. Friendly and efficient staff and crew, Perfect meet and greet at the airport, even at Midnight!! Glass of champagne and bags whisked away. Seamless and stress free embarkation - escorted to the cabin, no carrying flight bags. Perfect welcome. A bottle of welcome wine - canapes, sandwiches, cakes & pasties, and in invitation to call room service should we want something else. The ship was beautiful, modern but top end ScandiChic - expansive lounges and bar areas - spacious deck space - excellent indoor and outdoor pool plus hydro pool in spa. Beautiful Spa and excellent range of treatments. Plenty of bars. Lovely Jazz club. All the restaurants (including the speciality restaurants) were excellent. Perfect service, very good quality food, great wine selection (inclusive with meal plus a separate expanded wine/drinks package). A nice range of shops - unique and interesting items rather than the predictable offering. 2 cinemas and 1 theatre - the evening entertainment was more low key than the larger 'party' orientated lines, which we liked. All the tours, both inclusive and supplementary were excellent; the Caribbean is limited regarding transport facilities, sights and culture but they did well - small numbers; well organised and interesting. We love the cruise so much we are now booked on two more - both Ocean and River - the onboard future booking incentives are attractive. This was a successful first time cruise with Viking.

Cabin Review

Penthouse Junior Suite with Balcony

This cabin is a very large Junior Suite - but with a different layout to the norm as it is a disabled 'accesible' cabin. So extra space for a wheelchair when needed - in the cabin and in the huge bathroom: wet room with step free shower and shower seat with plenty of handles and support. Large balcony with automatic drop down step ramp for wheelchairs etc. Inclusive laundry, dry cleaning and fully stocked bar (beers, wines (Inc Champagne) soft drinks and snacks replenished daily.

Port Reviews

Antigua

A nice easy tour of the island with stop offs - beautiful

St. Thomas

Have visited the port many times and given that the cruise did not have any sea days we took this day as our substitute sea day. There is not much to see on many of the Caribbean islands so did not mind staying on the lovely ship - and exploring her,
