The Viking West Indies Cruise was a great break from the cold of fall. The weather was super with some rain, mostly during the night. This cruise was similar to the last two we took due to Viking's ability to make everyone feel relaxed and pampered and the fact that all the ships are mirror images of each other in it's ocean fleet. Once aboard we immediately felt at home.
The feeling is so great that we are not tempted to try another cruise line. If we do decide to compare with another company, it will be with a luxury cruise line that requires everyone to be over 18.
Viking has many lounges, game areas, pool & garden sections, and other small areas to grab sandwiches, tea, and beverages which are scattered throughout the ship. If you want to have a quiet break or drink with your special friend or find someone to have a conversation with, the Explorers Lounge, the atrium's living room, two pool bars are some of the selections to chose from. In the evenings there is always someone playing either piano, strings, and on this trip, a guitar. Pablo was superb. His modern and classical music was exceptional.
For your meals you have two specialty restaurants---an Italian and gourmet set menu dining-- and the main restaurant to select from. These require that the men have have a collared shirt and trousers, no jeans allowed. Or if you wish to be less formal, the world café is opened for dinner. They have a cold sea food section that offers king crab legs, shrimp, sushi, and more besides a hot buffet with several selections. To end your dining pleasure, there is a variety of desserts. With all of these meals, wine and beer are included. For those who have a special palate for wine and spirts, a Silver Sprits package is available for $20 a day..
Finally the crew is exceptional. They remember your name, everyone has a smile which is not forced and greet you often. You feel special and we enjoy the pampering. We are sold on Viking. This February we are taking the South American and Chilean Fords Cruise and then in May a Rhine River Cruise.
