We've cruised 12 times and so we know what to expect on a cruise and we've been pleased in the past. We have never given a negative cruise review before this cruise. Our cruise on the Crown Princess to the Southern Caribbean was very disappointing.

The trouble began as we pulled away from the port in Ft. Lauderdale and the Captain announced that one of the diesel generators was not working. He said that it would not affect the safety of the ship but we would be traveling at a slower speed. As a result we would miss our first port at Princess Cay. They gave each passenger a $75. shipboard credit. It was disappointing to miss the beach day but what can you do. He also stated that the slower speed would affect our arrival and departure times at the other five ports. We had scheduled our shore excursions privately and caused issues trying to adjust our excursion times because of the early departure times.

We were also not able to port at Antiqua or St. Kitts. The Captain blamed it on strong winds but passengers saw another ship making port at St. Kitts. Many passengers were upset that we did not port in 3 of the 6 ports. Many wondered if were were sailing at full power, would we have been able to make the ports? Princess eventually said passengers would be granted a 35% discount on a FUTURE sailing. A significant refund would have been more appropriate.
