Took MSC Seaside out of Miami, to SAN Juan, St Thomas, Nassau and Ocean Cay. The cruise was comparable to a Western. The Good , The Bad and the Ugly. The Good, a big new clean ship. Cabins were clean and housekeeping was great. Embarkation was smooth and efficient. If you don’t want to leave the ship, lots of activities to keep you occupied. Dining was bad, the restaurant food was bland and little variety each night, however the push to upgrade to a fine dining experience, was the most persistent I’ve ever seen on a cruise, you could not walk more than 10 feet, before being asked to upgrade to a fine dining experience or a better drink package, even the last night, they were still pushing. The buffet set up is brutal, people are tripping over each other at the beverage centres and food stations, while more people are trying to up sell you to a better experience. Maybe that’s the plan, who knows. Food was the same every meal. People turned into Lord of the Flies children with a rudeness of everyone for themselves. Each meal I was asked to rate the buffet a 10. If you have to ask, then your service does not speak for itself. The ugly, the excursions, Megan’s beach and shopping at St Thomas. Our guide spoke little English, while the beach was nice, the tour through the slums, was enlightening, it was not a selling feature. The world class shopping was tents in a lot. We were told after tent shopping, to go beside the last blue tent for our free shuttle back to the ship. It’s a scam, only people there were pay for ride taxis. The free shuttle was 500 yards and two lights away. Don’t mind the walk, just don’t mislead me. The Nassau 360 tour was worse. 1 hour to walk from the ship, line up e different times to board a tour bus, where literally the guide was calling out the Toyota Car dealerships and Chevrolet dealerships as interest point on the tour. (What)? We met people who did pick a taxi off the ship for better results. If you like high pressure up sells 200 dollars a week internet, and poor excursions then have at it. First and last MSC for us...shows while entertaining became the same contortionist twins, hoop riders, pole ballerinas, mixed in with great dancing and awesome singers , more variety is needed.
