We have enjoyed Regent , and Celebrity, but wanted to take 3 young grandchildren who would not like those sort of boats. The Symphony on board activities attracted us, and we could get a suite for all 8 of us, the itinerary was incidental as we wanted to use the rock climbing wall, zipline, hot tubs, pools, table tennis, slides, and see ice show. So my agent persuaded us to go on this ship which he has enjoyed which he had enjoyed with his family.
The Embarkation process for suite guests at Miami is excellent, we were sitting down for lunch in Coastal Kitchen at 11.30 . It is very good with great waiting staff but the adults who have enjoyed Luminae on all the Celebrity ships agreed the food on Royal Caribbean is not as good as on Celebrity, that applied to Windjammer buffet as well . which is badly managed, they cannot organise the crowds trying to eat there.
Our Grand Suite for 8 was excellent, huge and with large balcony. THe attendant Erwin was really good. Naturally we recognised his service privately before the rude letter and envelope from the Concierges arrived asking for extra tips for themselves, never had that on any other ship. We had $1000 enforced gratuity already added to bil, no complaints but all 5 adults agreed the concierges deserved no tip at all, indeed compared with concierges on Celebrity they are lazy and little use.
for 8. large, 2 bedrooms, 2 loos, large living room, large balcony. Biggest suite had on any ship. we always have suite.
Hired our own driver and private van for 8, did 5 hour tour of whole island, good to have seen but would not visit again.
We liked San Juan, particularly the Old Fort. would come back.
Bahamas good for snorkelling
