We had not been with this company before, and we were expecting this cruise to be better than the cruise we did with another company the week before. Strangely enough, we enjoyed the other cruise, but not this one.

Where do we start? In our opinion we felt that Jewel of the Seas desperately needed a refurbishment, and until this is possible, we felt that a good clean and a lick of paint would have been welcome. We found that on two occasions dishes in the Windjammer buffet had dried food on them, we found food that was on a ledge where we had breakfast was still there the following morning, paper towels used to soak up a spill in the Schooner bar were just left all the time we were there, areas around the ship that didn’t look clean, were suddenly improved when we used just a tissue and plain cold water. We could go on!

We found that the food in the main dining room was generally good, but we felt that the Windjammer buffet especially at lunchtime could have been better. Some staff were very friendly and helpful, but we found that there could have been more “service with a smile” in other areas.
