We chose this cruise because Holland American offered us an amazing, discounted price.

The Veendam was by far the smallest ship we have been on so far, but because we have sailed Holland ships before, the general layout was similar. Really the only difference being that there were fewer ship levels and less length of the ship to walk.

I did have to find the Explorations Cafe one morning, and it is on a different floor, which I knew from the signage by the elevators. What I didn't know, was that the floor was not contiguous. It took me a couple of tries to get to it, after going down to the level it was on and finding out that you couldn't get to it from the elevator lobby where I had descended to. So, then you have to walk up a level, walk over to the next set of stairs, and descend again back to level it is on. Not fun, when you are after your morning coffee. I really wish they would put this in a location on all ships more accessible. You have to pay for it, so why not promote it, where people can see it and opt up when they want?

Cabin Review

Lanai Ocean-View Stateroom

The cabin was smaller than on previous ships. Not that much smaller, but it meant a little trouble figuring put where to put our suitcases. I wish all Holland Ships would add more hooks in the bathroom.
