The Spirit of Discovery is a very stylish ship, the staff friendly, helpful and in the main always smiling, the food excellent. However though the cabins are nicely decorated as you would expect from a brand new ship. We had a standard cabin and there is just not enough storage room, especially for shoes. Plenty of wardrobe space for hanging dresses, coats, shirts etc.,and plenty of hangers, but the drawer space was sadly lacking, we were only on a 4 night cruise, might be difficult on anything over 7 days to find room for. The bathroom was just right, walk in shower though not sure the plughole was working probably , as quite often found ourselves standing in an inch of water. The TV was large and a good picture unfortunately the quality of programmes not very varies, you can only watch so many rehashed shows!!! No radio channels.
The dining rooms were fine though the Grand Central Dining room got a bit busy, and you can find yourself sitting with people who do not want to be sociable. We preferred The Grill on deck 12 much nicer.
Unfortunately we found there was not enough to do during the day unless you played Bridge or enters the quizzes. The evening entertainment was much better, the standard of the entertainers on board are amongst the best we have seen, sadly because of the rough weather dancing in The Britannia Lounge was practically impossible but that made no difference as the musicians were so good it was a pleasure to sit and listen to them.
