Sail Date: Feb 2020
Cabin: Junior Suite

We had previously sailed on the Oasis in 2012. We were asked to change staterooms the Wednesday prior to the sailing as our junior suite had a pull out couch and the one they ask us to take did not. I agreed even though we had selected the original stateroom, based on the location next to our friends. RC did give us a $400 onboard credit. Miami terminal was simple and efficient. I have found all Florida ports to be great. We got to our state room and unfortunately all of the keys and paper work was for the people we swapped rooms with. Once this was sorted out, and we were in our suite, the room attendant showed that this stateroom did have a pull out couch. All of the last minute changes were unnecessary! I was able to pass this on the RC costumer service and they sent someone in person to verify that Stateroom 11230 did indeed have a pull out. Evidently ther updated data at amplification was incorrect. The amplification done in November was quite remarkable. However, the staterooms do not appear to have been refreshed. Additionally as big as this ship is they should have added the ability to connect to friends through the RC Wi-Fi app free of charge. The couch and chair in our stateroom could have used a refresh. The new mattresses are way more comfortable then the previous ones. The water slides are awesome. I found the food in the main dining room to be subpar from previous cruises. As usually the windjammer was packed. While the jammmer had many choices. Other than salads, it lack vegetables, such as green beans, corn, peas etc. On a positive note the Solarium cafe’ is a hidden gem. For dinner you order your entrees while the appetizers and dessert are buffet style. The theme is Mediterranean. It was much quieter then the Jammer or main dining room. The solarium cafe also served a very similar breakfast to the jammer with better atmosphere. There are also numerous cafe and snack facilities that are included in the basic price of the cruise. We did eat at the Chops it was OK, but is getting a little steep at $50.00 pp. Our friends ate at the new port side BBQ that is $12.99 for one meat and two sides. They raved that is was delicious. The young adults in our group said the included Loco Fresh Mexican buffet was awesome. Be aware of the hours of these places as the Loco Fresh closed at 5:45 pm. Some minor complaints. There are freestyle coke machines in four places on the ship. They are located in the royal promenade, windjammer , solarium and near Loco Fresh. Many times one or more flavor was not available. A staff member indicated they are serviced everyday but can be glitchy. He rebooted the one in the solarium that indicated almost everything was unavailable. After reboot all were available. I occasionally enjoy a good cigar. As big as this ship is the smoking areas are rather small. I wish there was a cigar room like the Freedom has. The staff was all friendly and I went out of there way to make sure you enjoy your cruise. Excursions were standard. We did the adventure tours river tubing in Falmouth. The bus trip was an experience as it always is in Jamaica. Labadee is always fun. Beware the artisans in the artisan village are pretty pushy. The shooting areanear the beach has all the same stuff and less sales pressure.
