My wife and I just completed a 17-day cruise on February 22 on the Oosterdam from Fort Lauderdale (February 5) to San Diego. The food and service were great. The ship was clean and crisp. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The headliner shows each evening were top notch. The Lido Market was well organized, much better than other cruise ships. However, we probably will not book another cruise on Holland America.

We are an active couple of 70 and 72. We had little opportunity to dance to music that was danceable. The band at BB Kings was fantastic, yet only 15-20% was age appropriate or danceable. The age demographics for the cruise passengers would have preferred music from the 30s through the 70s.

There was dance music at 5 PM, yet dinner was at 5:30 PM, and there was only cocktail service for the first few days of the cruise during this time. Even that music could have been better selected for the age of the passengers. There was dance music after 10:30 PM – not a good time for the age of most passengers. Many fellow passengers shared our feelings about the music.

Good room. Bathroom needs some updating.
