We chose this cruise because of the interesting stops and the fact that the weather in the middle-east is much better than elsewhere, at this time of year. It also offered good value for money, as Emirates flights from the UK were included.
Due to the coronavirus, we were told that RC had decided not to stop at either of the two ports in Oman, due to its proximity (and open borders) with Iran. Not sure I believe this, more likely that Oman didn't want the cruise passengers disembarking and potentially spreading the virus?? As a result we had an extra day at sea and on that day the buffet was completely covered and staff (with gloves) were serving guests which was chaotic and led to very long queues. I can understand from an infection control standpoint why there were doing this, but as it was only for one day, it seemed to me to be a pointless exercise.
Enjoyed Abu Dhabi where we did a city tour combined with a visit to the Grande Mosque which was definitely the highlight of our cruise. Just be aware that ladies need long sleeves and trousers to visit the mosque, as well as a headscarf.
Space in the cabin was just about manageable for two guests, but balcony space was very disappointing. Due to our location, our balcony was tiny....barely room for 2 people of average size to be out there at the same time. Table was squeezed in at one end, as no space to put it in the middle between the two chairs! Peeling and rusty paintwork added to the sense that this cabin was unloved...avoid!!
