We’ve been on the Silhouette several times and more recently in September last year so it was easy to make a comparison. The refit is lovely but such a shame the entire ship wasn’t done. Now it looks like a bit of a mish mash of styles. The cabins are now this serene area of pale greys with lovely crisp new white cotton sheets and Egyptian fluffy towels, the Sky Lounge again has blues, creams and greys with rocking chairs looking out over the ocean and the area near the sunset bar has been transformed. But the theatre hasn’t been touched and is well in need of a facelift and other public areas haven’t as well. Such a shame in my opinion.

But something is going on and we couldn’t decide what. The staff appear far from happy. Miserable faces have taken place of the happy smiling ones and we heard several negative comments and grumbles. We felt Guest Relations were quite rude whEn we were trying to sort out our drinks package. Whatever the problem is, it needs to be sorted. We also felt the food in the main dining room had seriously deteriorated. We tried for 3 days to get a hot meal. I understand that us Brits like our food piping hot but I have never had this before. This time they seemed to think that they could put cold food on a hot plate and that would make it hot. In the end we gave up and ate each night in the Oceanview cafe. Not what I was expecting from a luxury cruise but we had to eat.

We felt the entertainment was better as there were more guest acts and they were first class and the daily quizzes were fun.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Lovely cabin situated on the hump at midships. Very close to the elevators but also very quiet. Bed is not located by the veranda doors which was a disappointment for me. Our cabin steward Hector was a gem and worked tirelessly.
