This cruise was chosen because our previous cruises to Norway with P&O had not gone as far north.
Booking direct with Hurtigruten meant that we were covered by their travel arrangements eg charter flight to Bergen from the UK and transfer to the port.
The ship is a working fast ferry that carries goods and post. However, the public areas are furnished to a high quality. The ship stops at many ports including at night mostly for a short time - 15 to 20 minutes. As the ramps for loading are on the port side it might be worth if you book for the lower decks in the hull to book the starboard side. Also, there are a number of times when the ship traverses open sea. In winter, these can be interesting. The posh cabins higher up in the ship and often more to the front being more susceptible to extreme movement. You get a nice certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle.
Cabin Review
The cabin was good except only 2 x single beds which were fixed to the walls. One became a couch / settee in the day time. The bathroom was very good with an excellent shower and hair dryer. Body wash / shampoo and conditioner are in bottles fixed to the shower and there is a soap dispenser above the sink.. Enough wardrobe space. There is a system that allows the cabin not to be cleaned every day which creates points to a 'green' fund.
