We booked this 14 day cruise to Canada, America and Iceland in 2018 and the price was fantastic.
The ship is beautiful - no expense spared with regard to decor and furnishings etc. BUT it's too big and cold (no atmosphere). There is a huge problem with embarking and disembarking - long queues. In Halifax (Canada) only one gangway served approximately 4,000 passengers and we had to wait in the freezing cold to embark. Crew members carried some of those in wheelchairs up the countless stairs (maybe 40) - although trained to do this it was still a safety hazard. We did complain and, as consolation, a tray of 9 chocolates arrived in our cabin.
Dining staff were pleasant but the food was mediocare compared to that of other cruiseships.
We were informed the day before arriving in New York (our last port of call) that it was mandatory that all passengers leave the ship in order that Immigration/Customs could board. This mean we could possibly be off the ship for 9 hours whether we wanted to or not. This was according to regulations in USA and was had nothing to do with MSC. Again, on disembarking (at least one person fainted while waiting to get off) more massive queues to go through Passport Control once we were off the ship - and it was cold and miserable.
We had booked a cruise with MSC on another ship but are not willing to go through all that hassle we had on the Meraviglia. We will not cruise with this company again. They take a month-of-Sundays to reply to correspondence or just don't reply at all. Poor Customer Care service. We will complete the Ratings questionnaire with 5/5 for value because we enjoyed the places we visited. We considered it a luxury cruise because of the itinerary.
We had an inside Cabin which was fair sized with adequte shower room. Wardrobe did not have enough space for hanging long items e.g. evening dresses. There was no chair in the cabin. Otherwise all else was satisfactory.
It was raining but we took the shuttle bus into Belfast city and did some shopping.
The information relayed to us about the sights and buildings we visited was interesting.View All 23 City Tour Reviews
This was a gorgeous waterside village - a bit like some places in Scotland. Quaint tearoom where we sampled their traditional afternoon tea.View All 245 Peggy's Cove Reviews
Did not like this one bit - it was dirty and dreary. Poor information about where our taxi would be. Visited Maceys and then back to the ship.
