We were met a the airport and took a motor coach ride to a dock where panga's (inflatable boats) took us to the ship. The embarkation was quick and easy. Our room was very spacious with a large window, closet, and surprisingly large bathroom. The bathroom had a shower with shampoo, conditioner, bath gel provided and were good quality. The bed was very comfortable and the window above the bed had a power blackout shade. There are no locks on the cabin doors but there is a safe that we would keep passports, electronics, jewelry... we kept our cell phones with us in waterproof bags.

The bridge has an "open door" policy and we got a great private tour. They answered all questions and were friendly like all of the other crew members.

The dining room was clean with plenty of room. Breakfast-buffet with pretty much everything you could want. Lunch-buffet with usually a pasta, main courses, veggies, fruit and desserts. Dinner-sit down with usually 2-3 choices for appetizer, main course, and dessert. Dining room was casual with hiking shorts/pants, polo's/tee shirts for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was casual with khakis/polo's for men and women wore sundresses, capris... Coffee/cappuccino/hot water/hot chocolate machine and snacks were always available complimentary in the library.

The ship does not dock, it anchors offshore and you get to all activities by taking panga's. Every evening there was a briefing on the next days activities with videos of the types of landing (wet or dry) and what to expect on the hikes/walks. When they say a hike is strenuous they mean strenuous and will not slow down for rests or breaks. The ship has a very strict schedule to keep d/t the Galapagos regulations.

The excursions were awesome especially the snorkeling. We snorkeled with white tip sharks, tropical fish, sting rays, octopus, and friendly, curious sea lions. There are wet suits to rent for $17.00 for the whole trip. Snorkel gear was complimentary with fins, snorkel, and mask, I recommend neoprene or regular socks to wear under fins for comfort also a long sleeve rashguard and stretch pants under the wet suit for extra warmth and sun protection. For land excursions we wore long sleeve sun shirts, hats with a strap, sunglasses with a strap (some areas are VERY windy), lightweight backpack, camera and tennis shoes. Did not bring hiking boots and did not need them. When returning from excursions there was always some type or tropical juice and snacks

Wifi is available on board for $40 for the entire cruise but it is inconsistent. There are 2 washing machines, dryers, and eco detergent that are complimentary. There are many water stations for filling water bottles. You can use the water to brush teeth but it is not recommended for drinking. FYI - tap water in the Galapagos and mainland Ecuador is NOT safe to drink! Also, the cabins located aft on the Expedition Deck got a lot of traffic with people getting on and off of the ship with wet shoes/swimsuits, the carpet was frequently wet and had a bit of a smell.

The service was amazing, crew friendly and helpful, naturalists were very knowledgeable, the Galapagos is beautiful. unspoiled, unique and awesome.

Cabin Review

Spacious, comfortable king bed, good size closet, large bathroom, very quiet even though it was next to the stairs, and very convenient to all activities.
