Trip Details
  • Sail Date: Mar 2020
  • Destination: the Western Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Interior

We traveled on the Carnival Glory March 1-8, 2020. We flew in the night before and used Uber to get to the port in the morning. We got to the port at around 11:30, dropped off our luggage and it took about an hour before we made it inside and through security for boarding. We went up to the Lido Deck for a Guys Burger and a drink before heading to our room to drop off our carry on luggage.

The room key was in the mailbox outside the door. We had an interior room. It had plenty of space for everything and we stored our empty luggage under the bed. Aurelio was our cabin steward and did a great job keeping the cabin clean and stocked with fresh towels. We chose to have our room serviced in the mornings. Aurelio would also pop in and restock the ice bucket in the evening.

We left late from New Orleans so we were unable to watch the sights as we sailed down the river. We had a great dining room team and head waiter Gavin was hysterical. We had anytime dining and occasionally had to wait (group of 8) but mainly because we wanted to be seated in Gavin’s area. Food was good and the service was even better. I am not an adventurous eater and I even ordered off the kids menu one night.

We went to several port/shopping talks, bingo, trivia, etc. Francisco was an amazing bingo host. He was very funny and did a great job keeping everyone entertained. The Military Appreciation gathering was well done. Our Cruise Director was Deon and if I never hear, “hidey-ho, I gotta go” again, I will be happy.

I booked all of excursions privately. In Roatan, we did a tour with Ronys Tours and went to West Bay to Paradise Beach resort for the day. The water was beautiful and warm. In Belize, we went to Altun Ha and the Baboon Sanctuary with King David. It was a great day and our friends got engaged on the top of the Sun Temple at Altun Ha. In Cozumel, we went to Playa Mia for the day.

On our last sea day, we took a mixology class at the Alchemy Bar with our favorite bartender. Disembarkation was a long process.

Overall, it was a great cruise. Deon was not our favorite cruise director but he didn’t make or break the cruise for us. The ship seemed to be in good shape. Yes, there is some wear and tear and odors on occasion but nothing out of the ordinary.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

We met with our driver and guide. After a brief stop at a local market area for shopping and photo stop, we headed to West Bay. We got a day pass for Paradise Beach Resort. Beautiful warm, clear water. We felt very safe and had a great time.

Altun Ha

Great day exploring Altun Ha. We were on the first tender off the ship and were among the first people at Altun Ha, which meant we were able to get great photos with out crowds in them. We also went to the Howler Monkey Sanctuary, which was very cool.

Playa Mia All Inclusive was great. The beach has quite a few rocks so wear water shoes. The inflatable water park was fun. Food was good. I thought the drinks were not good but everyone else seemed to enjoy them.
