This was to be our holiday of our lifetime and had spent many years saving up for it. We had previously sailed with Princes cruises for several weeks at a time and it was marvellous and could not fault it, from the crew to the entertainment as well as the food. As soon as we went on board, we were disappointed, it looked so drab and unwelcoming, whereas on Princess, when you enter the ship, you immediately stop and say “wow”. The shear oppulance of it takes your breath away. No such thing withthe the old rust bucket that Arcadia is. When it rains you have to negotiate around all the buckets that are placed everywhere around the place to catch the water. At any one time there were only 2 of the lifts working, the staff On the reception desk, with the exception of 2 members, were extremely unhelpful and rude to people when anyone had a complaint, of which there were many, but the rest of the staff were very pleasant. The entertainment was absolutely dire and We have seen and heard better in working men’s clubs, with the exception of a couple of acts. The cleanliness of the ship was very poor and the carpets were only vacuumed 4 times during the 99 nights we were on board. Really all in all, the only thing going for it was some of the destinations that we went to, which were very enjoyable, but I would definitely not sail on the Arcadia again and I felt it was a waste of a lot of money, which if we had gone with another cruise line such as Princess, it would not have been, but the reason we did not go with them was we would have had to fly to the US and then back again.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Balcony and Bath/Shower

Cabin DB

Layout of cabin was good and had new carpets and upholstery, but the carpet was not vacuumed except for about 4 times in the 99 nights that we were on board. The cabin was not cleaned to our satisfaction and I cleaned it myself every week, I also had to clean the glass on the balcony several times as you could not see through it. The walls in the cabin were filthy with dust and wiped them down myself. I also cleaned the bathroom as it was never cleaned properly.

Port Reviews

Barbados

Not very impressed with this port.

Curacao

We loved this port. Strolled around the town and fort and found it a very interesting place and very colourful.

Huatulco

The port itself was very nice, but the excursion we went on was very boring, all it was were piles and piles of stones which were the burial mounds, but we did see some lovely birds and lizards that were of more interest. Our guide did not like it when we were talking to others on the trip, as they too were bored.

Cabo San Lucas

We absolutely loved this place. We did not go on a trip here, but we loved looking at all the beautiful yachts in the marina and walking to the shopping mall. The port was spotless and the shop owners were constantly cleaning their windows and inside their shops and sweeping outside.

Pago Pago

There had been a hurricane here and apparently the other side of the island was badly damaged. The side we were on had some damage, but was relatively unscathed compared to the other side. We walked to the outdoor market and bought several gifts for our family back home.

Manila

We took a tour to but we found it rather boring and only took a tour as we did not feel it very safe to walk around on our own.

Nha Trang

Found this such an interesting place. We went to an orphanage run by Buddhist monks and went into the classrooms to see the children working at their school work. Would recommend this tour.

Mormugao (Goa)

Did not like this place at all, we took a trip to a holiday complex, but we only rested here for a couple of hours. The country is so poor and underdeveloped and it was a very dirty in the places we passed through to get to the complex. We also visited a market on the way, but it was very smelly. I don’t really know why the cruise ships go here as it is costly to get the visa for visitors and it is not worth it.

Colombo

Interesting place. We do love to see the different cultures around the world.

Seville

We did not take a tour here as we wanted to look around the city and the ship docked right near to the centre. We had a lovely day and sat outside a restaurant and had some lunch after which we went to the open air market and bought some more gifts.
