This was the Chilean Fjords Cruise starting in Buenos Aires, Ushuaia to Santiago. Sadly after just a couple of days on board Covid closed all the Chilean and Argentina Ports, which meant diversion to the Falklands, and a repatriation flight home to UK. In short we spent 14 days on board, mostly circling around port Stanley, being fed and watered, but only made two short excursions before the ports were closed.
One thing to be aware of with this cruise line, is that you are paying for a zoologist, an ornithologist, a geologist and several other ologists to enjoy the same cruise you are, using all the same facilities whilst providing a few lectures a week (some of these were good - most were unprofessional and dull). This explains the very high price tag. This is fine if you are massively into your wildlife etc and prepared to pay for it, but not otherwise. I would say the food and service broadly compares with many other cruise lines, and the boat, whilst comfortable is not really luxury. Most of the staff were lovely, and we were all put through the mill with all the uncertainty around covid of course.
This was a trip of a lifetime for us, and by far the most expensive holiday we have ever booked. Our trip was badly curtailed and we did not see even a quarter of what we expected. Sadly NC did not see fit to compensate us in any way, or even offer more than the standard repeat-visitor discount on a future cruise. In fact their customer service afterwards was unhelpful and dismissive. So all in all I would not travel with them again.
