We chose this cruise as we were going to Australia and wanted to visit New Zealand whilst we were in that part of the world. So we went to Brisbane to board the ship and first of all it was a fiasco at the port, there seemed no organisation and there were queues galore and nobody seemed to know why. Anyway after a very, very long wait we eventually boarded the ship, the SEA PRINCESS which seemed really quite nice but then when we found our stateroom, it was the biggest disappointment we have ever had on all the cruises we've ever had. We always usually pick an inside cabin as the guy said on our very first cruise years ago, "You only sleep and change in your cabin" which we found to be so true so have booked inside cabins from then on except for one for our Pearl Wedding. Anyway, every other cruise line we have been on Holland America, Royal Caribbean, N.C.L. Renaissance (no longer in business but was wonderful) Carnival etc. our cabin was always just what we expected. THIS WAS NOT SO WITH THE SEA PRINCESS. The cabin was configured to be a twin cabin, we had asked for a double. Well. there was no room at all by the side of the bed for my husband to get into bed, he had to climb over the bed every night and there was hardly any room my side therefore there were no bedside cabinets which we have never been without on previous cruises. The cabinet that is supposedly put between the twin beds was put at the other end of the dressing table making it difficult to get in and out of the main door to the cabin. I complained to reception but was told curtly that I would be put on a waiting list for another available cabin. This never happened, we had to endure that cabin for the whole of the cruise, not seven but fourteen days. There were other niggly little things but not major like having to pay for ice-cream, food was actually better in the buffet restaurant than in the main dining restaurants, we didn't go into Milford Sound, as expected, an experience I had eagerly anticipated. I was sorely upset and disappointed, there were no party nights which had previously been advertised. Then when I noticed there was a problem with my nearly new suitcase, one of the wee feet had become detached and hanging on by a couple of threads, I took it to reception to tell them about it thinking maybe one of the baggage handlers got it caught in one of their cages they use to transport luggage, I was told they would repair it for me. When I went to collect it, I then noticed that part of the main frame of the suitcase was broken. Again, I took it back to reception and they said they would fix it BUT instead of fixing it it came back completely smashed. I went back to reception to complain but they were very staid and wouldn't do anything about it. In the end I had to go to someone in a more authoritative position but all they said I would have to complain to Princess Cruises when I got home. There was no way my suitcase was gonna survive another seven flights before we finally arrived home, so I had to go out and buy another suitcase. Well, thinking this was just another thing to chalk up to experience, I was completely wrong. We had a session in the Platinum studio to have photos taken of my husband and myself. We were told the photos would be forwarded on to our home in England just after we arrived home..............we had to complain to Princess Cruises no end of times saying that we had not received the photos which by now we were thinking, after paying in advance an awful lot of money, we were never gonna get them. Finally nine months later our photos arrived. So if anyone says would you cruise Princess Cruises again, my reply would be "NOT IF I CAN HELP IT ABSOLUTELY NO" I wrote to complain to Millie at Princess Cruises and she said she was sorry that I felt that way and hoped we would be able to enjoy another Princess Cruise at some time in the future. My words to her were "I DON'T THINK SO, MILLIE , I DON'T THINK SO"
