We love to cruise but we’re limited where we can cruise to and from due to Covid so chose the MSC virtuoso cruise in the uk mainland. Have done around 10 cruises with various lines, RC, Celebrity, P&O, Carnival, Princess, 1st time with MSC.

We’re actually still cruising on it as I write - staff are very attentive and friendly, no waiting for food or drink orders even though there is only table service available. Food, apart from the first day which was very poor where we ate in the Blue Danube restaurant, is good but not excellent. I should add we ate in the buffet the following lunch but have not visited it since as we returned to the Blue Danube and have eaten lunch and dinner there for the last 3 days which was far better than the first evening meal; we disembark Saturday and don’t intend to eat in the buffet again nor any of the “pay for” restaurants which all remain empty each day!!

On the negative and it’s a big one, we paid extra for a balcony on the higher level of the ship on the Fantasia package, we’re on level 13 room 13136 around midship, the main sun decks are 2 floors above and every morning we get woken by the furniture being moved around on the sun deck, times vary sometimes 5am, 7am, 1.30am 8am sometimes like today it was both 5am and 8am. It’s like sleeping in a brewery where beer barrels are constantly being moved around. On the 1.30am experience hubby donned his clothes and went to see what was happening and as we thought it was crew moving furniture around to clean the decks, the other later morning times are for putting it back into place and the 8am this morning (after being woken at 5 when it was put out for the day) they got the industrial scrubbing machine out so it was a double whammy. We were offered a room move but as I pointed out to the customer service staff, that’s not going to solve the problem and they will get multiple complaints when they have more Customers on board unless they change the move/cleaning times, and as we are only on for 7 nights it didn’t seem worth the effort, that of course was before we realised it was sometimes more than a daily occurrence, but hey ho only 3 more nights of disturbed sleep to go.
