TLDR: Based on our experience on this UnCruise we put a down payment on a future cruise.

We had an absolutely amazing trip aboard the Wilderness Discoverer on our Glacier Bay National Park Adventure. One morning, while eating breakfast, "Orcas off the port bow" blared over the intercom. The cafeteria cleared out, the captain slowed down, and just about everyone on board spent the next 15 minutes watching a pod of resident orcas cruising along doing what orcas do. This is the kind of experience that made our first UnCruise special and completely different than the big ship trips.

The crew were efficient, friendly, and engaging, the food was plentiful and very good - we heard no complaints, and the cabin wasn't fancy but it was very functional and kept spotless and tidy. The daily activities were outstanding. Each morning Sarah, our activities director, helped us choose a morning and afternoon activity that included, kayaking, SUP, bushwacking, shore walks, hikes, skiff rides, etc. The star of the show, however, was SE Alaska and we had the place practically to ourselves. We saw glaciers, waterfalls, icebergs, fjords, and a spent a couple of nights in picturesque little coves that the big ships can't get into. We spotted eagles, auks, auklettes, puffins, murrelets, guillemots, and Common Murres, river otters and sea otters, mountain goats, seals, sea lions, humpbacks, orcas, harbor porpoises, mink, brown bears, black bears, etc., etc. The attached photo was taken by a couple from the Bay area while we were in the Icy Straits literally surrounded by humpback spouts and tails. Almost more than you could count.

Cabin Review

Other than sleeping we spent very little time here. We slept very well BTW. The bed was comfy and the cabin clean and tidy. There was a "wet" shower in the bathroom and the water pressure was good and the water very hot. The temperature was very comfortable and there were extra blanket if needed and A/C too. Perfectly acceptable to us.
