Sail Date: Jul 2021

We are big fans of Celebrity and Azamara. This particular cruise was in late July from Seattle to Alaska, and it was our fourth time sailing on Millennium.

Let's be frank. The travel industry and trade media were focused on this FIRST major cruise ship visit to Alaska for 2021 during COVID. The crew of Millennium passed with flying colors. Frankly, this was one of our favorite cruises ever because Celebrity froze the passenger count to about 50% of normal occupancy. This made for an unusually spacious week with no lines and a well prepared crew.

It was the little things that made our underlying concerns about COVID less worrisome. We booked a Celebrity Suite, so check-in was a breeze. ( excellent location amidship) Once onboard, we were sparred the usual 20 minute Life Boat Drill and instead took an interactive quiz on the Millennium's new app, resulting in no crowded spaces for the Muster Drill.

Cabin Review

Perfect location on deck 9 in the center of the ship. One deck up to the pool and Ocean Cafe and elevators. Enjoyed all of the special amenities that are included with "The Retreat".

Combo whirlpool tub/shower could be dangerous to older cruisers as it's a bit challenging to climb into.

Large walk in closet...two sinks in bathroom and a very large balcony. Room was very clean and the service was outstanding. Will book this cabin again.

Port Reviews

Seattle

Celebrity used Pier 66 for our Alaskan trip. We spent several pre-cruise days at the Charter Hotel by Hilton. The hotel has nice water views and close to the port and the Market. We stayed at an airport hotel the night before we departed for home. Highly recommend coming in early and staying a day or two post cruise to enjoy a great city. Make sure you try the fresh Halibut!

Skagway

Not much here but we did enjoy the White Pass Yukon Railroad. It's very overpriced for a 12 mile each way trip, but filled with beauty and gold rush history.

We found a really good restaurant called Skagway Fish Company. It is a short walk from the ship and they have really good local fresh seafood at moderate prices.
