After a very stressful two years, a UK mini break was just what we needed, so our son booked us a UK 6 day cruise to Inverness and Liverpool. We’ve never been on a cruise before so it was all new to us. What stuck out to us was the friendly helpful staff and the Covid restrictions in place, so we all had to wear masks still in inside areas so we al kept safe. We had a wheelchair accessible Sky Suite with a huge wet room and balcony and it was brilliant for me. In fact most of the ship was wheelchair friendly with lifts into the pools and hot tubs and level access. But I use a manual wheelchair and I really struggled on the luxury thick carpets and from other discussions with other wheelchair users they did too -they really should have spoken to disabled people before the refit, to get our views on floor coverings. Also level 16 of the Retreat Sundeck is not accessible to wheelchair users, when it really should be as there is a bar up there. We did have an issue where some staff from the sundeck were unaware of their responsibilities under the Equality Act and Americans with Disabilities Act, but management soon sorted this and was apologetic. Other than that the accessible part of the sundeck is fantastic with great views.

I would have liked more selection in the shops, for example I love Louis Vuitton bags, but the ones on board were preloved ones, which I didn’t want. Cosmetics were very limited to just a few brands and I expected Mac and Bobbi Brown, but they just had a few bits of Chanel, Dior and Lancôme.

The Spa is lovely with my favourite Elemis and I had a great manicure.
