Many years ago whilst holidaying in Rhodes my husband spotted a masted sailing ship and yearned for years to be able to enjoy and adventure on one. Then two years ago we spotted a sailing ship in Kotor, this time we could see the decks and once again felt jealousy for the people enjoying such a special adventure. So when my daughter (travel agent) told us that Golden Horizon was doing U.K. seacations from Dover we jumped at the chance.

Boarding day arrived and a very excited 60+ couple made our way to join the ship. We completed our covid tests and soon we were on this beautiful ship. We were escorted to reception where we were informed that we had an upgrade, so now we had a gorgeous balcony cabin, although I believe all cabins are very well appointed . We decided to go have a drink in the bar and it was here we spent our evenings enjoying the quizzes and the music, normally the last to leave.

The restaurant is beautiful, set over two floors with wrought iron bannisters. The service we received here was excellent and the food was probably some of the best we’ve had at sea (18+ cruises) everyone of the staff was great and really did look after us. Big thank you to Ryan the sommelier who looked after us with our wine and brandies.
