Did not know what to expect with Viking. Very pleasantly suprised. Our inital docking in Paris had a great view of the Eifel Tower, and as it got dark out, it was quite a beautiful sight lit up. The food was very good, with a good variety for everyone (there was 7 of us). On buffet night, I would have made reservations at a good restaurant, as it was below par. The staff were extremely helpful and always pleasant. The coffee machines in the hallway were top notch, we used them a lot.

The tours, both paid and included were amazing, and we saw so much and learned so much. Warning, the restaurant they use for the tour of the D-Day beaches was AWFUL, and dirty.

The cabin was amazingly clean (and new). The boat was not full, I'm assuming due to COVID, so we had no problem with dining wherever we wanted. They are very serious about COVID. We were tested every day (I don't think there was even one case). Be ready to show a copy of your vaccination every time you enter a store or restaurant. I am vaccinated and very careful and I was confident, due to all the safety measures, that I wouldn't be in danger. I appreciated that. The cruise is very casual, so no dress up night, just maybe change into something a little better than touring clothes for dinner (or not, no one cares). I'm 60 (this is an 18 and over cruise), and was probably one of the very youngest of the people on this cruise, which is a great thing if you prefer not to have drunken idiots coming down the hall at 2 am. Not sure I could ever go back to a big ocean liner again.

Cabin Review

Not sure what category we were in, it was an inside cabin, lower deck. We didn't spend much time in there, so that wasn't relevant. It was a week long cruise, maybe for a longer one we would have gotten a balcony. Small, but immaculate. Bottled water in the room, nice toiletries, heated bathroom floor, large closet and storage near the window. Great linens. Laundry service was not expensive and it was FAST.
