This cruise, long anticipated after so long a lock down , was simply glorious. We have cruised several hundred times over 40 years, but this sailing ship cruise on Golden Horizon was exceptional in so many ways. We’d planned to be on the original inaugural cruse, but as it was cancelled we chose a Harwich round trip during Cowes week, a 11 day trip. As we joined the 5 masts towered over the port, and after parking then having obligatory PCR tests, we were speedily embarked.
Our original booked marina deck cabin was unavailable, so we were shown to a comfortable Gallery deck cabin, on a level with the dining room. We found it cosy, comfortable , with two large portholes and nicely furnished in dark woods. The marble bathroom was excellent, with powerful shower, gleaming gold fittings, quality toiletries and ample towels. Two robes were provided, and an amenity tray supplied with kettle, tea and coffee, plus daily large bottles of water.
As we’d embarked quite late, they were serving afternoon tea, with freshly made scones, cakes and sandwiches, such a pleasant touch!
