Cabin Review

The Iconic Suite was awesome.

What can I tell you about the suite:

Positives:

Spacious – we looked into the second bedroom the first day and never walked into it again. The second bathroom was never used either. We had butler pantry on Millennium and Summit and liked the large refrigerator and the ability to put away dirty dishes and glasses in the butler pantry. As luck would have it, I am a Coke or Lemon Tea fanatic and the day before we left for Greece, I was given my blood work results and am now diabetic. It killed me to open the refrigerator and see bottles and bottles of my favorite beverages and I could not drink any. The living room is huge, the glass windows are huge and inviting. Just an outstanding view from inside the bedroom and the living room.

Private – because we only had 328 passengers on the cruise, the entire ship appeared to be a private cruise. But, the location of the Iconic Suite made it extra private. On our 12th floor (Cabin 12100) there was one couple in a PH Suite and no other cabins used on our floor or the 11th floor towards the front of the ship.

Balcony – we spent a great deal of time on the balcony. We actually fell asleep a couple of nights in the sunbed and woke up like at 2am-3am…lol. The balcony offers some privacy from the Retreat patio area or Spa/Exercise Room above. The jacuzzi cannot be seen from above, but the rest of the balcony space can be seen from above if passengers want to make an effort to look.

Butler – I doubt you will have Costin he will be either home or on the Beyond next year. We have always cruised in suites with a butler and this guy ranks in our Top 2. We hardly ever make any requests, but the few that we had were taken care of immediately. He had a great sense of humor. He tried to get us to stay onboard for another week and even wanted to go negotiate a room rate for us to remain in the Iconic Suite for the next week.

Shower – it is also huge.

Air conditioning – I had read a couple of reviews that the room was never cool because of the large glass around the cabin. The room was always cold and we always had the shades open.

Name recognition – We are still laughing because if you like privacy and being hidden or in the background, be prepared to be uncovered!!! It seems like all crew members recognize your cabin number as the Iconic Suite. It was day three before we visited The Retreat (no reason to when you have your own private Retreat in your cabin….lol). Anyway, we walked in and were immediately recognized as being in the Iconic Suite and the staff had been looking forward to meeting us, etc. It was really hilarious.

Negatives on the Iconic Suite

Hard to believe that there are negatives, but just three:

Counter space in the bathroom – The two lavatories are gigantic, but leaves no counter space for personal items. There are shelves but the shelves have items glued into place so you do not have room to place anything. We ended up using the drawers under the cabinet, but would have preferred having more space

Jacuzzi in and out of the cabin – The jacuzzi in the cabin is a sight to see, but difficult to enter and exit. Both jacuzzi were difficult to utilize. The water would always come out almost boiling it felt like. It was not until our 5th night that we learned how to close to drain on the outside jacuzzi. The butler never had a problem to fill it for us, but I would have rather do it myself. The jacuzzi in the cabin was used once. It was too much of an issue to use it as a regular tub

Room wear and tear – Hard to believe after only seven cruises, but the room is showing wear and tear already. Floor molding was coming unglued. The shower fixture was loose on the wall. There were stains on the sunbed
