Sail Date: Aug 2021

We chose this cruise so we could burn our future cruise credits from a Baltic Sea cruise that did not sail in April/May 2020. We unfortunately were denied a full refund of our fare. HAL held 50% on a Neptune Suite. When they put the Baltic Sea cruise back in the schedule for 2022, they did not contact us. We had to contact them only to be told the price had increased almost 3x and the would not offer any discount for having held $5k for + 1 year. With that said, we decided to use our credit before HAL goes “under.”

We are both fully vaccinated and with very short notice of our sailing date, had to arrange a covid test which cost us $165 for each of us. All the guests on the cruise were respecting social distancing and mask wearing. We assumed that the expectations for the guests- fully vaccinated with negative tests- would be applied to the staff. I cannot receive confirmation from HAL that the protocol is the same other than “they are working toward” 100% vaccination for the staff.

I contracted COVID 19 on our 8/14-8/21/2021 Alaska cruise. I understand the science of COVID, just frustrated that HAL places higher expectations on their guests than their staff. Doesn’t bode well for the employees that they are not provided a full vaccination protocol, nor the guests.
