This was our sixth cruise. It was our first after Covid, and second on Celebrity. We upgraded this time to AquaClass. The itinerary to Alaska was very nice. The app which we tried to use many times prior to sailing was very buggy. Embarkation was reasonably quick. The ship was very well maintained. Only about 900 people were on board (well below the capacity of ~2500). At times the ship seemed almost too quiet (as we really didn't simply want to drink by ourselves and the Mixology event my wife had pre-ordered was cancelled). The excursions were all very nice, but the featured Dawes glacier was somewhat disappointing. We had heard that the glacier wasn't even visible from the ship so we took an excursion which closely approached the glacier and then caught up with the ship in Juneau. By stopping there in the early morning, we found ourselves looking directly into sunlight the entire time with the glacier itself quite dark and shaded. There also seemed to be minimal iceberg calving happening.

There were a moderate number of people who wore masks throughout the entire cruise. While we were aboard, the CDC recommended that overweight, elderly, and people with health problems should avoid cruises so people kept up their guard more than I had heard prior to sailing.

We enjoyed the food. Eating at Blu was very nice. While the selection was limited, we were less tempted to overeat and we appreciated getting to know our waiters. The crowd in Blu seemed much older than in the rest of the ship.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Our cabin was overall very nice. Our balcony was a bit small as it was curved away from the next door suite. About the biggest disappointment was the mini-bar. This had a minimal selection (only 4 bottles of the same brand of vodka) and you would be charged for pop which was free in the dining areas.
