Covid was never a concern and this was truly a "luxury" cruise. If going to Alaska, Celebrity should be your #1 Choice!

We chose Celebrity to Alaska because they required 95% of passengers to be completely vaccinated as well as the crew to be 100% fully vaccinated. Most cruise lines to Alaska do not require that the crew be 100% vaccinated. In fact, most cruise lines only say they comply with CDC guidelines with no specific details such as what Celebrity details on their website. Two weeks before departure Celebrity put in another safety measure which we were very happy with that required all passenger be tested for covid, no more than 72 hours before boarding. LET ME MAKE THIS VERY CLEAR - before boarding, we had to show proof of being fully vaccinated and corresponding passport AND negative covid testing results at least 2-3 times before boarding.

Once we were on the cruise we soon found out the many additional measures that were put in place. Crew members, upon beginning their 6 month term on the ship were put in room confinement for 14 days and their food was delivered to their room. In addition, crew members are NOT allowed to leave the ship at anytime during their 6 month employment term. Although this seems harsh to employees, this does in fact safeguard the passengers. Crew members also have their own cabins due to covid. This is just a sampling of the many protocols put in place to safeguard the passengers. As I soon found out from looking at other cruise lines, most do not have these high safety standards in place.

The ship was at only 40% capacity and the crew/passenger ratio was close to 1 to 1. Translation - no lines for food, excursions, elevators etc. Every crew member were encountered could not do enough to make it a top notch cruise experience. They constantly thanked us for cruising on Celebrity and reminded us that if it was not for us they would not be employed.

Cabin Review

It appears that the cabin was completely updated. The cabin was a little smaller compared to some of the other cruises we have been on but perhaps this might be because the bathroom and especially the shower were larger than most other cruises for the same Veranda category. This is a nice trade-off if this is the case.
