DW & I reeled in the fears and booked this cruise when the itinerary was Greece & Israel knowing the whole trip was a gamble w/ this pandemic thang. Many said we were crazy to even try but ultimately things worked out better than expected. Gots to flex like a Gumby doll and roll with it if you wants to travel these days and was it ever good to go back Jack and Do It Again. Brings me back to life once more. Apex after a pox.
Swapping Israel for Dubrovnik was understandable, finding out only from Cruise Critic boards was not. To this day no X email on that change. The Old Town was on ye ole bucket list anyway and exceeded expectations.
X handled COVID testing getting on and off smoothly. Unlucky 4 out of 800 tested positive so could not board and another 4 at the week's end but decent odds ... more than decent and isn't life a risk? In all my travels as the facts unravel, I've found this to be true.
Cabin Review
Chosen for access to The Retreat and Luminae. Deck 10 under the Magic Carpet which moved quickly and quietly leaving no rug burn. Walls were thin though and neighbors could be heard especially when outside. Turn up the Eagles.
Port Reviews
Athens (Piraeus)
Wildfires curtailed some activity and there was a campfire smell at times. Guide said Parthenon was empty but sure did not feel that way. Cannot imagine the crush in a normal high season.
Dubrovnik
Game of Thrones ticky tack aside, there is unique authenticity. Like a M.C Escher painting of soaring stairs, archways, alleyways and charm. Wildly popular and for good reason.
Rhodes
Super convenient old walled city right off the dock. Surprisingly charming leafy squares filled with cafe's and shops. Fantastic synagogue and other houses of worship.
Santorini
Oh yeah, Oi pronounced EEEEAAHHH. Cool white marble streets, pocket pools build against code cliffside. The white and blue selfie shot everyone wants. Just keep in mind, the long ride from the dock and the mobs in tiny town so leave early.
