Cabin Review

Cabins had comfortable beds, nice bedding and pillows. The bathrooms were well designed for the most part and showers were larger than we have seen on at least 15 other ships. The glass doors swing wide, there is a foot perch for shaving, liquid shower gel and shampoo (if you like generic stuff) and a hand-held option for the shower head. The night stand is now a 6” shelf mounted to the wall. Way too small for glasses and a water bottle and your book but it does have a USB port if you want to put your phone there instead of your other personal items.

When you step out of your balcony door BE VERY CAREFUL as you could just break an ankle. In every ship I have sailed the gutter and drain for the balcony is just under the rail of the balcony. On this ship it is just UNDER the opening for your door so when you step out the surface is uneven. Your heel drops into the cutter and the rest of your foot is on the deck surface. Nearly fell and twisted my ankle – there is no sign warning you of uneven surface. Another stupid move.

NO BALCONY on this ship looks directly down to the ocean from the rail. It is a stepped-out design. You look down into the balcony below and they look down in to the one below them and the one above you looks down into your balcony. No privacy. Carnival goes to great lengths not to picture or tell you about this. EVERY OTHER SHIP we have sailed we could stand at the railing and look directly down into the sea not another cabin area. If we wanted an obstructed view, we would have booked a cabin with a lifeboat below it and expected the corresponding drop in price. Photo attached.

The two stupid things in the bath were the magnifying mirror mounted in the corner so you had to lean across the commode to see into it and use it. I am too short! Dumbest of dumb is the toilet tissue which is behind you as you sit on the commode but the facial tissue is right in reach in front of you. Go figure! Likely then need to have someone who actually uses these cabins take a look at the plan before they build hundreds of cabins. These are not difficult problems to figure out – especially after building so many ships and being in the cruise business for decades. Photo attached at bottom.
