We just got off an amazing cruise on the Danube departing from Budapest on August 30 to Vilshofen, Germany, September 6. There were 32 passengers with 34 staff. The cruise disembarking September 6 only had 37 passengers. And, the two cruises prior to ours had 30-something and 74 passengers respectively. Here are some observations:

1. Hungry required a PCR test to enter by air. No one asked to see the test but they did asked to see the vaccine card. We used the PCR test offered by Amazon. You take the test, deposit it at a UPS drop-off before last pick-up, and by 3:30 PM the next day we had the results by email (we’re in western Michigan). The test was extremely easy to take and comes with prepaid postage and packaging.

2. Because we had so few passengers we were upgraded to the next level room. I was expecting the rooms to be extremely small and was pleasantly surprised that there was more room than I thought. The bed was comfortable, the towels and amenities were nice, and the air conditioning worked very well (and we like to sleep cold). There were plenty of pillows and two extra blankets if needed. We had a French balcony room. Our only complaint is that when the boat was moving it was very loud with lots of vibration. We were toward the back of the boat, three from the rear. Those who were up more toward the front said they hardly heard anything. We were on the third level in the CA rooms.
