I chose this cruise when Viking e-mailed us a very good offer with zero single supplement. We arrived from LHR at 2.30pm and quite quickly we were through the airport checks. It’s much faster if you have VERIFLY completed. We were directed to waiting buses and transferred to the ship. In under 10 mins we had completed our check in documents and stateroom card in hand walked out to the ship First impressions are WOW Ship is new, light, bright and airy. We dropped our bags off in our cabins (we had 2 single cabins next to each other) and headed for a late lunch The World Cafe is a gorgeous space.Temperature checks are done daily at the doorway and sinks provide hand washing facilities. Food choices were plentiful, presentation very appealing and full of flavour. Many of the restaurant mains are also available here in the evening and in port the outside spaces are a great place to sit. Restaurant was available with no advance booking and we never waited for a table. Selection was very good and quality as good as the best restaurants on land My favourite was Manfredi’s (lobster risotto !!!!) I did not care for the menu in Chefs Table .

No shows on first 2 nights aboard but we found the group in Torshaven very good indeed. Great selection of songs with both quality singers and band .The main shows in the theatre are performed by a small group of 4 vocalists who perform a Beatles show, an Abba show and a 60’s show. Very easily listening and everyone enjoyed them .We had 2 different cruise directors on board, Verity and Heather, both are amazing singers and performed for us.Stand out for me was the show Heather Clancy performed. I’d have happily paid to see her perform. She has an operatic background and her voice is stunning.

We attended a few enrichment lectures but felt Viking were too focused on history speakers and personally on holiday I prefer a few “lighter” choices. Same with included shore excursions, too many ruins visited (some with long bus journeys) In Malta we saw too much countryside, tour was too long and we saw nothing of Valletta. A walking tour here or in Birgu would have been welcomed. While on board we visited Montenegro and on that exact day UK red listed Montenegro meaning we either had to cut short our cruise and fly home, stay til Malta and transfer to a hotel or fly home as normal and quarantine in a UK hotel. Here Viking astounded everyone with a very generous offer to stay on board FOC til Athens and they would alter flights etc. We were overwhelmed by the care shown, excellent communications and a level of customer service seldom seen today.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

Beautiful cabin on deck 6 Loads of storage and good balcony which we doubled by removing balcony divider.Bathroom is spacious and well appointed. Stateroom attendants do an amazing job of servicing staterooms.
