This was our first time with Silversea, and we booked late. This wouldn’t have been too much of a problem, but a day later SS was hit by the website system outage, and so we went into our holiday without a lot of key information. In fact, we went to the airport without anything except our online boarding pass for the flight! However, at the other end we were met as hoped for and the included coach transfer went smoothly. The Covid embarkation was relatively swift, but it was a slight letdown to start the holiday sitting in a rather grim plastic tent surrounded by the detritus of other people’s COVID stickers.

Silver Moon is a very pretty ship, and there were lots of positives. We liked the number of options for sitting outside, which made the most of the gorgeous weather and scenery. The decor is elegant and very pleasant to wander about. The pool was a real joy to use, and we swam every day. The Arts Cafe was our favourite for breakfast - quick, light and healthy. When service was good, it was excellent (which was about 75% of the time). And the location can make or break a cruise - the ports were great (we missed one due to rough sea but SS put on extra tours at the port we were in).

On the average side - the shows start late (10pm every night) which was too late for us, but that’s a personal choice. The activities are very focused around S.A.L.T., so if cookery isn’t your thing, make sure you bring your own entertainment for the sea days. Keisaki in our opinion was not worth the extra charge - the blackened cod was flabby and tasteless. The gym is decent but small, and is currently missing half the equipment due to COVID.

Cabin Review

Cabin on deck 8 - very comfortable, best bed I’ve slept in. Decent size bathroom. Small balcony, but with comfy furniture. The smart tv struggled to work properly. Excellent butler and steward. Sound does travel a bit from the cabins on either side (doors closing, loos flushing, etc).
