We very much enjoyed our ACL cruise on the American Harmony in July. This was our second ACL cruise. We boarded in Portland, and the accommodations were so convenient, we were able to walk from the hotel to the ship dock! From a COVID perspective, we felt safe being on a ship with everyone tested and vaccinated, and there were many reminders from the staff to wear your mask, and most people complied.

The itinerary on this trip was really wonderful. We had no idea the Columbia River was so large and had so much going on, there was always something to see on shore. We went thru 8 locks and never tired of watching that process. Our cruise had an incredible lecturer on - Todd - and each of his presentations were so well done, with lots of authentic artifacts and objects that helped illustrate the Lewis and Clark expedition. Todd was also very approachable during cocktail hours and up on the sun deck - always willing to share his knowledge of the area.

We enjoyed several of the expeditions - don't miss the Maryhill Art Museum - to our surprise, that was a favorite. We also loved the Reach Museum and learning about the Manhattan Project. The bus ride to Mt. St. Helens was long, but the destination was really worth it - and they made the ride educational by showing us a well-made video of the day the volcano erupted. Definitely recommend. Our Cruise Director - Chelsea was always present and made all of the activities and announcements light and fun.
