My 83 year old mother and I chose Viking as her end all get all Cruise. Her grand finale’. We loved the itinerary and added days on the front and back end. Thank God for those days. Once we boarded, early as we had a nice suite, we were told we could not leave the ship unattended via letter in our stateroom. At any port. This was not communicated before hand.

This is how it works. Must be vaccinated. You get tested every day before you can leave your stateroom. 3 ccs of saliva before coffee, water, food or brushing teeth. You must wear a tracking device at all times. When you leave on an excursion, there is a guide in front and back. No breaks other than a potty stop. Masks at all times including outside, where countries do not call for this. We could not browse, shop, sit, eat or drink.

When I finally had a chat with the onboard manager after waiting two days for a call, he informed me that they did not have one case of Covid and this was their choice to use guidelines above and beyond what the ports required. We were in three ports in France and never heard a word of French. We were in port every day. I was allowed off the ship 14 hours in 8 days, while carefully attended.
