We chose this Alaskan cruise for several reasons. First we could drive to Seattle for embarkation instead of having to hassle with flying somewhere. We also got an exceptional price for this cruise early on. We also liked the Broadway show lineup of "Kinky Boots" along with many other fine entertainments .....so many choices that we never made it to all the venues we'd like to have visited..

The Norwegian ship the Encore was fairly new too. It has a wonderful observation deck on the 15th level with windows floor to ceiling and lovely comfy furniture arranged in homey living-room type groupings. There was a bar, beverage and light snack area set up in the Observation area. It was the perfect space to relax and enjoy viewing the sail through Glacier Bay while we read and sipped coffee and tea.

The decor of the ship was understated with subdued blues, grays, greens, and beiges with an industrial chic quality.

Cabin Review

Mid-ship Inside Stateroom

small cabin in comparison to other ships. Bed was not as comfortable as I'd have liked. Room service is no longer complimentary except for A.M. continental breakfast. Our Cabin Steward was very good, though we'd asked for separate beds but found only 1.
