I was skeptical of taking a cruise, but after reading about the specific Alaskan destinations I was convinced this would be a once and a lifetime trip. I was right about that, but not in the way I was expecting. From the start, the trip started off on the wrong foot. Upon check-in we were handed a letter saying that due to weather we would be starting a day late and skipping one of the stops. A bit bummed, we continued onto the ship and were still excited that we had three destinations to see.
The first 1/2 day at sea was fine. Nice weather and we were able to enjoy walking on the decks of the ship. We were going fairly fast, I imagine to try to make up some time. We hit rough water for the next 36-40hrs and didn't seem to slow down. The crew kept mentioning how unusual this was and how passengers were getting sick. This is when the trip started to go south, FAST.
The indoor pool was closed, decks were closed. Walking down the hall was an interesting challenge. As we neared Juneau on day 3 the weather cleared and things seemed to be looking up. But this only lasted for 24hrs. On day 4 the trip was basically cut short and we started our return to Seattle.
Furnishings were dated and well worn. Carpet, sofa and curtains were all stained.
