I decided to write this review during some downtime on the last day of our 7-day cruise to Bermuda, so that I wouldn't forget to do it upon returning home tomorrow. :) What a wonderful experience this first cruise post-COVID has been!! NCL really had everything covered to ensure a safe trip, with minimal difficulty at the terminal in NYC. The worst part was pre-trip, as we tried to interpret the regulations and requirements as communicated by NCL and the government of Bermuda. It was a little nerve-wracking, but to be expected, I think. I am pretty detail-oriented, so I wondered how others less so were managing. But we arrived in NYC on the morning of departure, with our passports, test results, Bermuda travel authorization, and cruise docs in hand. As others have noted, we received a pre-departure phone call, directing us to ignore our pre-scheduled arrival time, but we arrived at 10:30 a.m. and found quite a few people already there. The check in process took a couple of hours, and when we completed it, we saw the extensive line behind us--we were glad we had arrived when we did.

Leaving all of that behind, our trip was relaxing and fun from the moment we stepped aboard the ship. Honestly, we didn't care where we were going or what we would do. We were just so happy to be sailing on Norwegian again! And we had never been to Bermuda before, so we had no particular expectations. Everything was wonderful, and Bermuda as a destination was great!

The Norwegian staff was as terrific as ever, with several mentioning how glad they were to be called back to work after the long pandemic time. The ship was not nearly full, and we found this to be a very fun, unique opportunity to talk with people (guests and staff) and experience all of the ship's amenities. The entertainment was excellent, especially "Six," the show. We had discovered "Howl at the Moon" on our last cruise (in 2018), and we were delighted to find it on this trip as well. We attended every show they played--thank you so much to Gavin, Emily, and Paulina for an excellent time!! We enjoyed the comedy of Melvin George and Rob Little, and the magic show, and "Burn the Floor." Leo the guitarist, the Watson Duo, and Syd Norman's Pour Room were also highlights. Cruise Director Alvin and his team made every activity fun. The casino staff was attentive and friendly, as was the staff at all of the restaurants.

Cabin Review

At time of booking, this room was less expensive than the regular Balcony room, so we said, "Why not?" And so glad we did!! We have not stayed in this category before, and this is our first trip on the Breakaway--but our cabin was definitely larger, with more interior space to move around and stretch out than we recall from regular Balcony rooms on other NCL ships. The extra space in the bathroom was great also. The bed felt like a King size, and was very comfortable, with a mattress on the firmer side. Plenty of room and hangers in the closet and shelf space. Very clean and well cared for by our cabin steward. We wish we had brought along a power strip, as there weren't a lot of outlets (and none by the bed)--but this was an extremely minor inconvenience that we worked around without difficulty. The room's location (Deck 10, near the stairs) was ideal for getting around. I think we will find it a bit hard to go back to a regular Balcony room--so perhaps we will stretch to the Balcony Mini Suite again!
