Sail Date: Oct 2021

On October 9-16, 2021, we went on a cruise to Alaska (family cruise). We had excursions planned at all three ports, Icy Strait Point, Juneau and Ketchikan. All three excursions were cancelled with no reasons provided (and with very short notice). At Icy Straits we were unable to go to the town due to Covid. I would think that Norwegian could have changed to another port. The other two ports we were able to walk through the towns, however, a lot of restaurants and stores were closed. One of the only excursions left in Ketchikan was the Duck tour (last resort to do something at this stop), which our entire family signed up for. The excursion was terrible (waste of money). The guide told awful jokes and laughed at his own jokes (loudly). The tour lasted about 1 1/2 hours and we could not wait to get off the amphibious vehicle.

Accommodations on the ship were great, however, with the only trip to Alaska I'll most likely take in my lifetime, I would have liked to have been given the option to reschedule our trip as we were unable to enjoy any excursions we had planned months in advance. We were told that the date had passed to get a refund or make changes. I understand that Norwegian is not responsible for the excursions, but prior to adding additional cruises in October, there should be communication with the vendors to ensure they will not close down early (if cancellations are not Covid related).
