We just go off the most amazing new ship the Mardi Gras! The ship is beautiful and the staff was excellent! We enjoyed the Atrium on the side of the ship where they had multiple shows and music. The Serenity deck has so many places for couples to sit together, clamshells and day beds and plenty of loungers. A lot in the shade for those of us who do not want to be in direct sun all the time. We never had a issue finding a nice place to sit on deck. We were on the 15th deck under the Lido and you could hear the music when the balcony door was open, but not when closed. The room was a bit more narrow than other rooms we have had in the past but it worked. There were some that had issues with curling irons working in the bathroom, however I plugged mine into the desk plug and it worked fine. Our Steward was amazing and brought us a fan and ice daily. You can have your room made up once a day, you choose morning or evening. The food in the lido was just ok. We did not think there was a lot of variety and very little fresh fruit compared to other cruises. The serving stations were small and could get congested. We only ate here a few times due to this. Also the dinners in the main dinning room were ok, but we did not care for much of the menu items. The sea day brunch was good. My only complaint is they do not have any smoothies anywhere on the ship. This would be helpful to those of us who can not eat a lot of carbs or any eggs at all, which makes it hard to have breakfast choices without fruit or smoothies. The staff was excellent in all eateries as well as the whole ship. We were thanked by name each and every time we ate anywhere onboard. Guys burgers have switched their fries on this ship. You can find the great guys fries only at the Pig and Anchor and only at night. Pig and Anchor was ok. They put some kind of spices on the meat which we did not care for but others might love. Texas BBQ Brisket it is not. Mac and Cheese was good. Now on to the best part of the food.. Chi-bang and Cucina Del Capitano. Both were excellent and service was outstanding. They have noodle bowls and make your own pasta bowls on sea days. The Fun Squad was great as well. They were very energetic as well as our Cruise Director Mike Peck. There were different trivia and games so something for everyone. One of the best changes from other ships was they had comedy shows PG and 18+ starting at 5:30pm and going till 11:30 pm so everyone had a chance to see the comedians. The dancers were amazing. I did not care for the 60's rock show, but the second musical one was very good. They changed costumes so many times which I thought was great because so many other shows wear the same thing through out the whole show. Family Feud was fun as well so if you have a group of people try out and you will have fun. They had 18 families they picked from however many signed up and they went against each other with one person from each group. They narrowed down to 3 and then to down to the last 2 who would play against each other in the live show with their families, so 6 families got to play the next day, one at 7, 9, and then an adult show at 11 I think. The love and marriage show was at 2pm on the last sea day, so something a little different. We were at about 50% capacity and it was nice. At full capacity it could be a bit crowded in the venues ( trivia, comedy club, piano bar, and main theater) But they do a good job at having a lot going on all around the ship. They have a rock band in the Pig and Anchor most nights and some solo guitar players in the other bar areas who are excellent. We had an absolute blast on this cruise. If I had one complaint it would be that the TV channels are limited to a few for kids and the travel channel, and old movie channel. They do have some free movies but the newer ones are something like 3$ per movie. It would be nice to be able to watch the movie they are playing on deck at night in the room for free, as it started raining one night when we were watching a movie and couldn't finish watching it in the room without paying for it and starting at the beginning. But not a big deal as you are not in the room that much. One last thing. They only have paper menus if you ask for them in the restaurants. I have seen some reviews about people not liking the app. Personally we loved it. You are able to see the whole weeks activities with times and menu's for each dining area ahead of time so you can plan where you want to eat through out the cruise instead of waiting until the day of. You can also see your pictures on the app and decide which ones you want so it takes less time when you are ready to order at Pixels. The app will also alert you if you have a event coming up (like trivia) so you can get there on time and you make your dining reservations on the app and it will alert you that your table is ready. Excellent time.. Just GO!!

Cabin Review

We had room 15329 and it was a Balcony with 2 chairs and a small table. I liked it because the railing was a little higher so when you were sitting you could see the sights instead of the railing. The room is a little narrower than rooms of the past, but I think all of them are a little narrower. The bathroom is very small. The smallest we have ever had, but it worked and we enjoyed the sliding glass door for the shower.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Excellent pool area, but they could use a few more shady spots with loungers as most are in the sun unless you pay for special section. Make sure you take cash with you if you want to purchase anything on the island.

Nassau

The port area of Nassau is under construction and not very nice to look at. We docked at 7am and stores were not open until later. Not a lot to do besides shop in the immediate area. You need to take you Vax Card with you as well as ID as it could be asked for in shops and dining there.

San Juan

Nice area to dock and you can see the Fort from the ship. They have nice stores there as well as a Walgreens if you need any supplies. You can walk to the Fort and all around the town near the ship which is nice as well. You are required to wear you mask at all times outside and inside in San Juan.
