This will be a short review because there is nothing to say but what a great cruise. We arrived in Fort Lauderdale around noon and after dropping our bags parking the car and all, we were on board by 1245. We weren't in the terminal any longer than 10 minutes before we were waiting for the elevator to deck 9 and the Windjammer. We had a quick bite to eat, which was pretty good for buffet food. Our room was ready at 1300 and we have no complaints. As we were walking toward the room our luggage was sitting in the foyer of deck 8 so we grabbed them and went to the room. We were unpacked and ready to explore the ship by 1400. We especially liked the layout of the Grandeur, there are plenty of elevators and the flow throughout the ship was excellent. Unfortunately, we didn't explore the ship like we do most cruises and by day 4 we found new places we didn't know existed. It had nothing to do with the ship but we just didn't go exploring this time. We changed from fixed dining to My Time Dining and are happy we did. There are few places to eat on the Grandeur: Main Dining Room, Windjammer, and the Burger Bar in the Solarium. They are all good venues and the food was very good. The Main Dining Room (Great Gatsby on Deck 5)was well organized and the food was again very good. The lamb shank and escargot were absolutely delicious and well prepared. We had breakfast in the Deck 4 Gatsby dining room and the breakfasts were very good. No complaints about the food or service at breakfast or dinner. We had a JS and there is plenty of storage once you find it it all. The suit cases didn't quite fit under the beds without lifting up the bed but once underneath, no problems. The beds were comfortable. Just a word of warning, the safe is smarter than we were. We had a hard time getting the combination to take and they had to reset the electronic lock so we could recode the thing. Once set it was fine unless you put too much in and block the locking actuator and then it jams and you have to have maintenance come up and open it again for you. Oh well, very minor issue. The casino is a bit tight but I did hit $250 on video poker and the DW did well on the last night at 3-Card Poker. Enough said, we donated enough to the crew party fund there. We didn't do any of the shows but we didn't hear any complaints from other passengers at breakfast or dinner. There was a couple of catty ladies whining out in the deck 9 smoking area about how this was the worst cruise they had ever taken and would never do RCL again. My thoughts were: what ship were they on? The one lady was whining because the Captain didn't come to her table on formal night and the waiter didn't pullout her chair every night. And of course the food was horrible (while she is shoving 2 plates of buffet good in her crawl), the ship was a wreck, blah, blah, blah. We didn't have any such problems. The Head Waiter, waiter, and assistant waiter were always around in the MTD area and were very professional and courteous. Our waiter or his assistant were always pulling out the chair for the DW, the food was hot and tasted very good. I really don't expect the Captain to visit my table. From what I understood the Captain's formal night dinner table was at 6 pm, I suspect he wasn't going to wait around for me to show up at 7pm just to introduce himself. The Captain was readily available at other venues on board. He was on the pool deck for crew intros and pictures Friday afternoon, he was at the returning cruisers meeting and was more available than most captains we've encountered over the years. He was also kept his announcements brief and light-hearted. After leaving Key West, he announced our next port of call would be South Africa instead of Cozumel. You had to be there! We made all our ports on-time or early and didn't lose a soul in port. We had a great, relaxing cruise and we couldn't have asked for a better ship than the Grandeur to do cruise on.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

Nice sized balcony, plenty of storage throughout the room. Very quiet room, once the sliding door was closed we couldn't hear anything from deck 9 (pool deck) right above us.
