This was our second time in Progreso.  The first time we went to Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins which was a great experience but it made for a long day.

This time, based on the reviews that we read, we did it on our own.  We took the Ship's provided shuttle into the "Flea Market" then hopped on the double decker $3 bus tour.  It was well worth it!  We stopped for $1 Corona's along the way and got some recommendations for lunch (which I am sure were paid advertisements, but who cares).  If you are on the top, be careful for low hanging trees and power lines.  Once we were done with the tour we walked around and were offered massages everywhere we turned.  We finally relented as we were offered hour massages for $30 for the two of us.  We were lead to the back of a restaurant (most were on the beach so this was actually a selling point for me) and were given hour massages.  They were definitely not "proper massages" at you would get in the states...in other words they did not give you the therapeutic benefits of a deep tissue or swedish and the folks were definitely not licensed, but they were relaxing nonetheless.  We felt very safe the entire time and it was definitely interesting.  We had lunch at a place called "Buddy's" which was owned by an Ex Pat from the US.  It was good as well.

This was also our second time in Cozumel.  Both times we have rented cars from Avis and traveled around the island on the highway that circles the island.  We took our time and stopped at the various restaurants and bars along the way.  We had a great time and saw some beautiful sites.  We felt very safe both times and had no issues.

Smelly bathroom, light by the mirror worked sporadically, not a good place when the boat was rocking.

I even joked about making a "people of Carnival" site because it was so bad.(We left the kids at home)  There were some folks that were "our people" but a lot of the folks on the ship were the "people of Wal Mart" type.
