Cabin: Cove Balcony

Having sailed on Carnival in the past we knew pretty much what to expect. We liked being on a new ship and the itinerary. A few glitches we noted:

The cabin temperature was "too cold" so we notified the room steward who called the Director of Housekeeping. She arrived in the cabin and got an ambient temp of 72 degrees. We told her we wanted it adjusted and that our thermostat didn't seem to effect the cabin temp. She informed us that this was controlled by their central a/c/heating mechanism and that it was "the policy" to keep the temp between 72-74. We asked her to raise it. Three days later we again complained to the steward who reminded us of our earlier complaint. We insisted and she reappeared. Same story. We protested and she said she "might contact Maintenance". Shortly someone from maintenance appeared and denied the Housekeepers version of cabin temperature controls stated "she's new" and promptly diagnosed the problem as a "blown fuse on the thermostat" After repair we were able to adjust the cabin temperature from the individual thermostat after being uncomfortablly cold the first week.

We booked our Rome excursion ($189) each with Carnival and missed their chartered bus by 5 minutes because there was no on in the lobby to assist passengers with the "sign-in" process. We inquired as to their lack of staff and organization. They eventually refunded our cost and rebooked on a similar one in the afternoon that included only half our tour. At their prices you would expect that they could provide a few underpaid staffers to assist with the thousands who were waiting for shore excursions. We overheard several employees reporting that other guests had missed their tours as well. Guest services staff were visibly flustered.

Cabin Review

Cove Balcony

Cove Balcony a plus; quiet, private and cozy. Very close to the water line on Deck 2. Ample space with pull out sofa, small table, comfortable bed and linens. Bathroom adequate.
