The good, the bad and the ugly

I wanted to try Cunard for the experience so paid 3.5 times the usual daily rate of other ships. Unfortunately it was the worst dining experience of any ship I have sailed on (10+) and I complained to the Executive Chef in person. Meat and Foul were of very poor quality so if you wanted anything not to be tough you had to order rare. I had tough steak and lamb n poor quality shrimp. One lady at my ...

Overall a great cruise, value for money. Ship looks great. Maintenance seemed up to date and all looked clean and shipshape. Main dining room food was excellent, maybe Lido buffet a bit underwhelming but certainly ok. Tried Veranda restaurant and was execellent. Had the sole not steak. Not as stuffy as I had expected and surprisingly gala nights made a nice special occasion but I would still ...

After nearly twenty cruises with Royal Caribbean / Celebrity, we booked a Panama Canal cruise on Emerald Princess leaving on 29 February 2020. Having never sailed with Princess before, we decided to do a test drive by booking Golden Princess for a 5 day cruise departing Adelaide on 25 January, visiting Kangaroo Island, Port Lincoln and Phillip Island before disembarking in Melbourne. Our ...

Hi, I choose this cruise as I wanted to go to Kangaroo Island and Phillip Island to see the Fairy Penguins, had to fly from Queensland for the cruise. First thing that went wrong was that I was told several times on the phone that I could buy a drink package when I got on the cruise, how wrong was that, after being told to go to 3 bars and the service desk finally was told NO they don’t do drink ...

Summer cruise with Veteran friends

We chose this cruise to visit New Zealand with my Vietnam Veteran mates. The food and service was excellent, the music in most events for the age of the passengers was extremely modern and loud, it did not suit the age of the people travelling. The ship is very tired, smelly hallway carpets, leaks and water dripping from ceilings. Parts of furniture falling apart. Destinations changed, departure ...

We chose this cruise because we liked a previous cruise on the Golden Princess which was also to New Zealand. As this cruise was departing Adelaide and returning to Adelaide we thought this would be an advantage over previous cruises. This proved to be not the case. Princess did not inform us that Adelaide to Melbourne, Melbourne to NZ to Melbourne and Melbourne to Adelaide would be 3 seperate ...

Chose this cruise because of the itinerary & really enjoyed all of the ports of call. Overall very pleased with my experience. Loved New Zealand. We took a few tours and the tour guides were amazing and very knowledgeable about the areas visited. Experience on- board was very good - a couple of areas were not up to par but it did not detract from my overall enjoyment. I feel that the ...

WE chose this cruise as it went from our home port of Adelaide so was an easy decision to make. The ship is getting on and looked tired in places but the cabin and entertainment areas were decorated very nicely. The beds were very comfortable and cabin staff were great. We travelled with friends and family so there were 11 of us in total including an 11 year old. We had a table of 8 in ...

Embarkation at Adelaide was a nightmare. No one available to help with the bags, was expected to move them myself. A bit difficult at 74 with two large suitcases. Wilson security staff kept giving contradictory instructions and seemed well out of their depth. Club class dining not worth the extra money. Tables for two so close together might as well have been a shared table in the main dining ...

This is the second cruise our family of 4 have taken. The first being a 10 day cruise with the Carnival Spirit in July 2017. We thought our Carnival cruise was great, fantastic staff, good food and lovely atmosphere. So when booking this 5-star Cunard cruise, I was assuming it would be of a higher standard that we experienced on the 3-4 star Carnival cruise. Sadly to say, this was only ...
