Cozumel was the only port that had tons of shipping options; be sure to keep money on hand to use restroom, they charge $1.

Went on a private Jeep Tour, and had a blast!  Paco was great.

Port was nice.  Shops and restaurants.  No public beach.

We booked the “all inclusive” vip beach excursion from Virgin.  Although it was pricy at $200 pp, the food and drinks were good. We had ceviche, quac, mahi and fish tacos. The quac was far better than what was served on ship. The Margaretta was excellent and the beer cold. The beach waiter ran his butt off taking care of us. The beach felt safe, and water was beautiful. The bus stopped at the light house and crocodile viewing area, but the majority didn’t want to get off, so we continued on to the beach. 

There were adequate beach beds with tables and umbrellas. Snorkeling if you wanted and a Tequila tasting at the end.  The only negative is that the bath/changing rooms were primitive.

The ride there gave us a short tour of the island. I’m glad we didn’t rent a vehicle to explore more. The roads are narrow and didn’t feel safe.

There was a tequila tasting included, which was fun. This turned out to be a lucky pic for excursions as the many of the other beach/snorkel adventures were canceled due to wind and weather. 


Scarlet Lady

Pretty much every cruise out of Galveston stops in Cozumel. There are few exceptions.  For a variety of reasons we didn't have an excursion this time, but there are a number I've enjoyed in the past such as Discover Mexico and a dolphin encounter.  Cinco Soles is a nice store right in the port area for souvenirs, and in contrast to Costa Maya, the employee I approached at Del Sol was helpful and kind. I've almost always had a good time here. 

Do an excursion here. If you walk off the ship to go explore, it's a mile of in-your-face bombardment of sellers, including children.

Always a wonderful time when you get a taxi and get away from the docks.  Cozumel has dinner off the clearest water on the planet

Nieuw Statendam

The port itself is a Tourist trap. Snorkeling is great but you need a tour boat. Unless you going somewhere else just stay on the ship and try the Flow Riders.
