Laid-back, authentic-feeling port. Not lots of activities, but it was quite scenic. We did a lazy day wandering along the harbor and having lunch in a taverna. I'm sure some people might be bored here, but we enjoyed it. There were a couple of excursion options to historic locations in the area (Sparta), but we skipped them because of the amount of driving involved. ...
I am unsure why Oceania would go to this port as there is almost nothing there. There are a few cafes near the port area and a few shops, but nothing worth noting.

We went to the Diros Caves, which was rather disappointing since the time in the boats was very very short, plus they don't take care of the cave formations in the same way we've seen in other locations (e.g. they let the public walk through unescorted, stalactites are broken off, etc). Gythion itself was fairly small, tons of restaurants, pretty low key. ...
Gythion cruise port to Sparta by bus
Once you exit the cruise terminal, keep on your right and walk along the shore.
Walk about 10-15 mins to a junction. Take the left street, which is Vasileos Georgiou.
Walk a little but more, and you will see a cafe with an Alpha bank next store.
The bus stop is right in front of the cafe.
